About Us
Our mission is to create a holistic approach to learning with the focus of developing the whole-child and environmental literacy with nature as the organizing concept. At Wildflower, our goal is to focus on the overall well-being of each child in our care, along with the educators supporting their growth.
What does Holistic Learning look like?
Holistic approaches to child development and learning recognizes the connectedness of mind, body and spirit. When early learning and childcare workers take a holistic approach, they pay attention to children's physical, personal, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, as well as cognitive aspects of learning.
How do we calm nervous systems in the Early Childhood setting?
Exercise, getting outdoors, grounding, rhythmic music, yoga, deep pressure (blanket burritos, weighted blankets, pillow squeeze, molding dough), breathing techniques, learning about big feelings, and having the support of a trusted adult are just some of the practices educators use within the classrooms to help turn off stress responses and stimulate the release of dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin in children.
What is Nature Based Learning?
Practical and strategic implementation of curriculum will create rich, explorative and interdisciplinary learning through extensive outdoor experience. Bringing the early childhood classroom outdoors will allow children to explore with their senses, engage in physical activity and promote children's bodies, minds and spirits.
Our Values:
Kindness
Encouraging and modeling kindness creates inclusive communities where each child, family and educator feels safe, loved and respected.
Nature
Connecting children with nature fosters children's physical, intellectual, mental, sensory, cognitive, social and emotional development.
Holistic Learning
We understand the importance of nurturing the whole child and value the connectedness of mind, body and spirit in the early childhood setting.
Community
We strive to bring families and educators together to raise children who see value in themselves and others.
Mindfulness
Being present and setting intentions each and every day allows us to provide insightful interactions with children and elevates the overall well-being of both children and adults.
